Green Toys Giveaway

Share

One of my favorite toys I ever bought for Kenya and Chloe was a garbage truck from Green Toys. They loved it so much that I soon added a fire truck and tool set to their toy box. Green Toys are responsibly made and imaginatively designed. Take their Pizza Parlor, Sandwich Shop and Dish Set toys, for example. Not only are they perfect for your little budding cooks wanting to whip up their own creative dishes, but they can have their own dish ware to serve them on too.

Lucky for us, Green Toys is offering three weelicious moms the chance to surprise their kids with one of each of these great culinary themed items. All are made right here in the USA from food-safe, 100% recycled plastic milk containers which save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. To top it off there's no BPA, PVC, phthalates or external coatings to worry about, they meet FDA food contact standards, are dishwasher safe and packaged using only recycled and recyclable materials (I wish they would make a set of dishes like this for adults too!).

And if that wasn't enough to get you excited, did you know that on average, every pound of recycled plastic milk containers used to make Green Eats products saves energy equal to 3,000 AAA batteries? That’s enough electricity to power a TV for 3 weeks, or to keep a laptop computer running for a month. I'm not sure who loves these toys more, my kids or me!

To enter, just leave a comment below telling me where you buy most of your groceries. Three lucky winners will be chosen at random and notified next week.

Good luck!

We try to support local mom and pop businesses as much as possible. Most of our produce comes from farmers markets and most of our meat comes from small, local butchers. Another plus is most of the animals are raised locally. For the things we can’t get at farmers markets or butcher shops, we go to independently owned grocery stores or to Kroger or Meijer depending on what we need.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any “good” grocery stores around where I live. We tend to do a little grocery shopping at a local chain and then Target for the rest. I have been lobbying for a Trader Joes, Whole Foods, or the like to move into the area for quite some time.

Most of my other grocery shopping is done at Kroger so that I get the points towards a discount on gas. Love your website, by the way. Great and easy ideas!

We have a locally owned grocery store here (with a really good natural foods section) called Sherm’s Thunderbird. They get the majority of my business because they stock local products, order in bulk for me, and know me by name. Fred Meyer and the farmer’s market (and a local strawberry stand) round out our purchases. When I’m in larger cities I like to stock up on things I can’t get here at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods!

How I miss living a 5 minute walk to Whole Foods and Berkeley Bowl. And Trader Joe’s! I lament the loss of your $1.69 i-can-pronounce-everything-on-the-ingredient-list cereal bars.
We now shop at Superstore, as everywhere else is insanely expensive giving the cost of import onto an island. We live at the edge of the city though, and enjoy getting cookies and kale at the farm stands on the way to the beach!

Just starting my Christmas shopping the other day for my little boy by purchasing several green toys items! I recieved the stackers and a gift and LOVED that i can dishwash them and they are made in the USA of recycled bottles. Truly what is not to love! I’d even love it more if I won a few more green toy items to add to my Christmas stash!

We belong to a farm share where we get most all of our produce and my 2 year old gets to pick some of it himself. The rest of our groceries come from Trader Joe’s. He loves that place too! It makes for a full day of food fun every Tuesday.

We do most of our shopping at the Fort Polk Commissary, as it usually has the best deals in town..but when I get adventerous (which is maybe once a month or so), I’ll pack up the three kiddos (8,2,1) and head to Alexandria and hit Sam’s Club. When I’m super lucky and get a ‘girls day’, my friend and I go to the Lake Charles farmers market..both cities are over an hour away, that’s why we don’t go more often! By the way…LOVE these toys!! :) Thanks for the opportunity to win them!

unfortunately, we live in a very small area and
the only grocery stores around are walmart, riverside and aldis. We also have a large “scratch and dent” chain called Sharp Shopper. Thats where i do the majority of our shopping. Yogurt, fruit snacks, etc are all about 50-70% cheaper than in the chain grocery stores. What i cant find there, i then go to aldis and walmart to get.

i some how convinced my close minded dad to buy a great wooden kitchen for my son when he turned 2, he will be 4 soon and it is still something he plays with regularly, making soup, pasta and pizza. i had a list of amazing male chefs to rattle off to my dad when he started to protest against little boys playing with kitchens, glad to hear other mommies are encouraging the boys to know their way around a kitchen!

We’ve also started picking our own berries, either at a u-pick farm, or, in the case of wild blackberries, along the river near our town! Makes for some great memories and fun family outings!

A combination of Trader Joe’s, Raley’s, Safeway, and the farmer’s market provides a full array of healthy/organic foods. Costco is great for beverages.

Most of our shopping is done at Costco. We have chickens for eggs, compost waste, and hoping to start a garden soon, but with this heat, produce, milk, and misc. items are bought at Fry’s Market in AZ for now.

At home in Seattle I shop around for deals on staples, but find that produce averages the best prices at the Trader Joe’s near our apartment. We don’t own a car, so being able to take baby in a stroller (with basket for hauling groceries home) is vital. Lucky for us, there are three major grocery stores within 1.5 miles of our place.

We’re in Korea right now, and farmers sell direct out of trucks on city corners or in street markets, and even the larger supermarkets are decent. I found bell peppers for .80¢/each yesterday!

We have our produce and dairy delivered via an organic home delivery service called SPUD. You can track your food miles through them and we are guaranteed fresh organic and mostly local, seasonal food. We shop once a month at a large store called Superstore for bulk items and I check the sale items at our local health food store every week. We also drive down to the states every couple of months and buy select items at Trader Joes as their prices are better than home.

Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Safeway, and a local organic store called Rainbow Grocery–each has items we can’t get at any of the other stores. So shopping in San Francisco takes some planning ahead!

as it’s a half hour drive to the closest Whole Foods for me, I rarely get there and do most of my grocery shopping at the local Stop & Shop. At least I save on gas, not only because it’s closer, but the store has a gas station that offers a points program on your groceries to save on gas purchases! I do have to remember to check out the town Farmer’s Market soon though….

  508. Emily Clarke-Haughn

    July 7, 2011 at 5:51 pm

I shop at Publix mainly because its within walking distance, and there is a lovely woodland walk to get there. Means the little one loves going shopping so they can play on the way there, and rest whilst I shop. Perfect for me, and saves the cost of fuel as well. We also have a farmers market once a month right beside us which we go to.

I am grinning ear to ear hoping I win so I can play pizza party with 2yr old Addi Grace. Her favorite thing to play is chef/baker. We bake lots of your yummy food and we get most of our groceries at Ingles. Sadly, I don’t have a Trader Joes, Whole Foods, or any other awesome grocery store. But, if we win the giveaway, we can make some yummy pizza.

That’s so funny because just today I was laughing about how I really shop at THREE different grocery stores! We have a new Fairway and I have lots of coupons there so that’s my place this month and I always shop at Whole Foods, Shop Rite AND Stop & Shop depending on what I need and what’s on sale! Is that totally weird? But I guess I would have to say that Whole Foods is the place I always go and definitely the one I couldn’t live without!

  538. Jamie

    July 7, 2011 at 4:38 pm

We live in a pretty small town in Deep East Texas, so a traditional grocery store is our only option for most groceries. We go to Kroger because it has by far the best quality produce. However, in season, we utilize the local farmer’s market and produce stands.

Love those Green Toys. My son’s favorite toy is his kitchen and we’ve been on the lookout for food to add to it.

I honestly either buy them at Publix (the only thing close enough not to waste a lot of gas..) Or I grow them! I am a gardening fool! You name it, garlic, cucumbers, radishes, potatoes, strawberries, leaf lettuce, cabbage, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, corn, blackberries and blueberries, all grown right here in my yard…. I figure A: it’s a heck of a lot cheaper, and B: there are no chemical treatments that might be yucky for us :)

I mostly shop at our locally owned and run, small town grocery store. We also get a lot of our produce in the summer from our own and our parents gardens and local produce stands. I guess that is a plus about living in a small, farming town. :D

I currently shop at Walmart for most of our goods, but in about 2 weeks we are moving and with our move will come a lifestyle change. Going to teach myself to garden. There is a co-op in town that I’m sure we will hit up too.

We do practically all of our grocery shopping at Whole Foods (with a few items that we purchase from Trader Joe’s). Food allergies and intolerances got us started doing all of our shopping there a couple years ago (versus some when we thought we could afford it), but we would shop there regardless at this point! We also get what we can from our Farmer’s Market!! When possible, we go there first and then to Whole Foods – that way we stock up on local stuff that’s available first. :)

  814. Tammy Bilodeau

I shop at our local commissary. Their seafood and meat are so fresh and a lot cheaper then what you have to pay in town. But during the summer I try to go to local farmer markets to get fresh produce. If I do have to get produce from the store I try to make sure it is from the USA.

Love the gift sets. We are always looking for toys Made in the USA.

My shopping habits are all over the place. My go-to grocery store is Central Market, but I often shop at Sun Harvest, Wheatsville (a local food co-op) and the farmer’s market. I can also be found in HEB from time to time. It just depends on what I need and where I am. Since my son started eating, I find that I shop more frequently and buy less at each trip than I used to. This allows me to shop at the smaller stores than if I needed to buy everything at once (which would mean that I would have to shop at HEB).
