I completely relate to people's love of Chinese takeout. When I was growing up it was a total treat when my family got it. My husband, on the other hand, had it virtually every Sunday night when he was a kid. For busy parents, Chinese takeout is a no brainer: fast, flavorful, and super convenient. However, I shudder when I think of some of the ingredients used to make my childhood favorites, first among them, Orange Chicken.
You probably don't need me to get into things like monosodium glutamate and other reasons why most Chinese takeout isn't such a great choice for dinner. Instead, I'll give you reasons you should try making your favorite Chinese dishes at home, with fresh ingredients that you know (and can pronounce). I bet you already have a lot of them in your kitchen.
For starters, check out my takeout style Orange Chicken in today's video. I think your whole family will love it, and you won't have to give up any of the taste or convenience of the takeout you're all used to. This one is just a heck of a lot healthier!
