Crepe and Pancake Pan Giveaway

Win one of THREE crepe pans at weelicious.com

Our family breakfast rotation is filled with many beloved classics -- pancakes, waffles, cereal, omelets, etc. -- which all get requested regularly by my kids. Yet for some reason, they always seem to forget about one of their very favorites until I remind them. At the mere mention of the word crepes, their eyes brighten like twinkly holiday lights.

When I was 6 months pregnant with Kenya in my belly, my hubby and I went to Paris for our last hurrah. We always walked everywhere -- not one cab, bus, or train -- and ate our way through the city. Without question, my favorite daily treat was the warm crepes filled with nutella and chocolate which we'd get on the street. So it's no wonder Kenya loves them so -- he ate them in the womb!

Crepes can turn any ordinary morning into something truly special. They are light and airy and no matter what filling I use, both of my kids go nuts for them. For years I've made my crepes in a sauté pan until I got my hands on this gorgeous crepe and pancake pan. It's the perfect shape and size for making incredible crepes.

Lucky for us, NewMetro Design is generously offering NewMetro Design ROSE crepe and pancake griddles to three Weelicious readers. These versatile griddles have a durable PTFE and PFOA free ceramic-based nonstick cooking surface and are perfectly shaped to make crepes and pancakes. You can also use it to quickly sauté sweet and savory ingredients for your fillings and other recipes.

This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winners!

Our all time favorite is our French Toast Casserole. Very rich. Very decadent. We love to serve it to our guests for the holidays like Hanukkah or Break The Fast (Yom Kippur). It’s a special treat that I look forward to. Great served with maple syrup or apple butter or just plain. Oh and I would suggest making it with Raisin Challah vs. plain. The raisins add some extra goodness.

    Dear Weelicious,
My name is Susan and I have three kids, Elle is 10, Soren is 6 and Berghen is 3. My heritage is Swedish and my father has been making swedish pancakes, as a tradition, on Sunday mornings in the summertime for almost 40 year now! There was a lull in pancake production through my college years and early adulthood. Now that I and my sister are married with kids, Grandpa has struck up the tradition again, to the grandkids’ delight! We live in California, but spend a good 6 weeks in Chicago and Wisconsin with grandparents in the summer. One of my children’s favorite and most treasured family traditions is, by far, Grandpa’s swedish pancakes. My sibs and I have forever razzed my father for being so crazy-particular about his recipe and his pan. Rules of the house are that we may never use his “swedish pancake pan” for any other cooking, and for the love of God, if we ever had- “do not use cooking spray!” He has replaced the pan once or twice in 40 year’s time, but it is a coveted and priceless possession. Living states away from the swedish pancake master for most of the year, I have made the occasional batch myself, on one of my cheapy scratched-up pans. The children have been appreciative, but my cakes will never measure up to the love-infused batches of Grandpa’s. However… I’d love to carry on the tradition and spread the love to my extended family and special friends, and future grandchildren!….. with a new pan of my own. : ) And I think my father would approve.

I’m from Colombia, SA where I grew up with my grandparents. My grandma was an amazing cook and she always made your favorite requests. Every time she made rice for dinner which was pretty much always, the next morning she’d make me rice with eggs. You scramble 2 eggs and add about a cup of cooked rice with a pinch of salt and ground pepper. It is to this day my favorite food of all. I have taught my only child to love it just as much as me and it is a frequent request of hers. I don’t make rice as often as my grandma did but when I do I’m sure to make an extra cup so that we can have rice and eggs the next morning. Makes me happy just making it and makes us both happy eating it.

When we were kids, my dad would make us green eggs and ham once a year. That was our favourite breakfast for a while. Then it was his cornbread. My grandmother used to make us pancakes in whatever shape we requested– I still don’t know how she did it so well. As teenagers, my mom started making popovers for Christmas morning– and those are still a family favourite when we get together for a brunch.

Nothing, though, tops the crepes my mom makes with our children, though!

I am french and tough i love the sweet crepes on the streets of Paris, my favorites are still home crepes for brunch on Sundays. I cook one side first then as soon as I flip the crepe I crack an egg on top to let it cook into the crepe, with a little ham and gruyere it is delicious! Right now I use a square pan which works but is a bit unorthodox for crepes so i would truly love to win the nice round pan

Our favorite breakfast is when Dada makes french toast (he is an expert, soak the bread in milk- then dip in egg – then fry, then finish in a warm oven) and we eat it with homemade jams from his mom that got sent over from Romania. The jam is made from wild berries gathered in the Carpathian mountains and is spectacular!
When she visits us she often cooks crepes (to eat with the said special jam) also and she would be thrilled if we had special crepe pan to do so. I think it would encourage her to make more of them – so I hope we win this one!!

One of our favorites are the Protein Pancakes. Cottage cheese, eggs, organic pancake mix and unsweetened grated coconut. Sometimes we even add a couple mini choco chips and macadamia nuts to be able to use our coconut syrup. Yum!

My family’s favorite breakfast is sort of like pancakes; they’re called Pikelets, kind of a Scottish style pancake that is puffier and smaller in diameter than a pancake. If you add a dash of cinnamon, they’re so good you don’t even need syrup to enjoy them. :)
