If I could top every dessert I ate with a heaping spoonful of Hot Fudge sauce I would live a happy life. My true dessert weakness, the one that brings me to my knees is rich, gooey, decadent hot fudge sauce on top of vanilla ice cream or to dip cookies in. These are the simple indulgences in life that are worth every last calorie. That’s what edible gifts should be, right?! Special, unique and something you wouldn’t necessarily make for yourself. I mean come on, when is the last time someone made you a jar of homemade hot fudge sauce?

Mexican Hot Fudge Sauce (makes 4 cups)

Prep Time: 2 mins Cook Time: 3 mins

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces unsweetened chocolate baking squares
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups White Sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

Preparation

1. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt together the chocolate, butter, and sugar, stirring constantly.

2. Stir in the milk and cook 2-3 minutes more, until heated through.

3. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.

4. Pour into mason jars and store in the fridge up to 2 weeks.

5. To reheat: microwave sauce in a glass container for 2 minutes, stirring halfway through and spoon over ice cream, cake, or cookies.

    Yum! Have you tried it with coconut oil instead of butter? I just wonder if it would change the flavor or texture too much. Thanks!

    Hi...these sound great! I'd also like to give as gifts but do they have to keep refrigerated? Are the jars just for transporting? They don't seal the way you might if you were canning something, right? I'm just trying to think logistics if we give as gifts for teachers, etc.

      I do keep it refrigerated since it is made with milk. The sauce lasts about 1-2 weeks in the fridge!

    This is amazing fudge sauce. I just made 3 milk-style jars for teacher gifts and I could not stop licking the pot and spoon (after I was done touching the gift jars of course)!
