Apple Sausage Stuffing Bites Video

I love firsts. No matter whether they are big or small, the first time for almost anything is special and worth cherishing. First day at school. The first time you fall in love. Your first car. The first steps your baby takes. The first word your child speaks. Yes, even the first time you break with tradition and try a new recipe for the holidays can be momentous in its own way.

I’ve been hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinner for our families for the past 15 years and even though I create recipes for a living I’m a creature of habit. I sort through cooking magazines and cookbooks hoping for new inspiration, which does come along now and then, but for the most part I stick to my tried and true dishes like Brined Turkey, Sweet Potatoes in Orange Cups, Maple Roast Veggies, Shredded Brussel Sprouts with Lemon and Poppy Seeds, and Pecan Pie (there are a few more I make without fail, but so I don't sound totally glutinous I’ll stop here).

If you’ve ever been too intimidated to go outside your culinary comfort zone to try a new dish, I hope you’ll watch this short How to Make Apple Sausage Stuffing Bites to get a little encouragement.

Stuffing is usually baked in a baking dish and my favorite part is the golden surface. You know, those little bits of crispy bread, celery, apples and onions that poke out of the top. The only problem is there's never enough of it! By cooking these Apple Sausage Stuffing Bites in muffin cups you get that much more crispy surface area. The best part is that each stuffing bite is the perfect serving size, so they won't overwhelm your already crammed Thanksgiving plate. Covered with a good-sized spoonful of Turkey Gravy, they’re good enough to break even the most committed Thanksgiving host out of his or her comfort zone.

And the first step to making a change you won't regret is watching this video!
