When I started weelicious over 3 years ago, I never imagined that one of the greatest gifts I would receive would be meeting so many other incredible food bloggers, each with their own culinary missions and passionate belief in what they do. I feel so fortunate to have been able to cross paths with so many members of this amazing group of dedicated people worldwide who spend their days and nights eating and thinking, dreaming and writing about food!

From the first day that I came across GlutenFreeGirl.com, I was intrigued. This was a site that wasn’t just about gluten free recipes. It also featured stories by it’s founder, the enchanting Shauna Ahern. I devoured this woman’s writing like it were the exquisite food she makes and even though we covered different parts of the food world, I knew as I read line after line of her posts that I had found a kindred spirit out there on the web. Not long after that, Shauna and I got to meet by coincidence when we were both asked to be founding members of GoodBite.com and became regular contributors.

A month ago Shauna invited me to Central Park in New York City for a celebration for her new book, Gluten Free Girl and the Chef. This wasn’t a small affair or a run-of-the-mill media event, but a gathering of people who believe that Shauna’s work has changed their lives. Her fans showed up with their favorite gluten free recipes to share along with their friendship, support and great conversation. I felt lucky to be a part of it. It was not only a tribute to Shauna, her lovely husband (and co-author), Danny, and precious daughter, Lu, but also to the great work she does trying to do helping people all over the world who struggle with celiac disease and wheat allergies.

With so many kids these days suffering with wheat allergies and their parents who strive to find exciting recipes that their little ones can enjoy, I hope you will read this lovely book and get inspired to create some of Shauna’s mouthwateringly delicious meals as I have done so many times. This book is for everyone, whether they are living a gluten free life or not. Because the one common ingredient that unites all of Shauna’s recipes is that they are delicious.
