A lot of you have been writing to ask what that bright new button is that appears at the bottom of every weelicious recipe. Well, that’s the super duper, über cool (and totally free) ZipList online recipe box function and it can make your life way easier. Don’t worry, if you’re happy with the weelicious recipe box you’ve had for years, you can keep it. But if you want to try out a simple shopping and planning tool that I find pretty amazing, I highly suggest you test drive ZipList.
What is ZipList?
Ziplist is a free online recipe box which syncs to your phone through a free mobile app. That means you can store your favorite weelicious recipes (and any other ones you find on the web) and access them whenever you want, wherever you want! You can also make and manage your grocery shopping list, create weekly meal plans, find and save your favorite recipes from across the web, and get great savings with money saving coupons.
Why do I dig it?
For as long as I can remember I have cut recipes out of magazines and pasted them in a special binder I keep in my kitchen. However, it’s a lot of work and can be messy at that. With ZipList I just go to some of my favorite sites who use ZipList — like MarthaStewart, WhatsGabyCooking, SimplyRecipes, RecipeGirl, Steamy Kitchen and more — click a button, and have all of my favorite recipes in one secure place (no glue or tape needed)!
How does it work?
At the bottom of every weelicious recipe there is a + ZipList button. Click it to sign up (the process takes less than a minute). Then, any time you find a recipe you want to save, just press the ZipList button and it will automatically be stored in your recipe box. ZipList also helps you create a shopping list for the recipes you plan on making where you can check the food items you need and uncheck items you’ve already got on hand. The best part is the free mobile app which links with your computer’s recipe box so there’s nothing to print out — it’s all on your phone!

I want this process to be painless for you, so if you have ANY questions, leave them below and I’ll answer them! One I can already anticipate getting is what to do if you already have a lot of recipes in your current weelicious recipe box. We tried for a long time to figure out a way to have everything transfer automatically, but apparently it is not possible. That means you will need to take your list of currently saved recipes, manually pull them up one by one, and click the ZipList button for each. Hopefully it won’t take you very long — even if you have a lot of weelicious recipes saved (which I hope you do!) — but the ease ZipList will afford you in the future will hopefully more than make up for the ten or fifteen minutes it will take to replicate your current recipe box.

I LOVE Ziplist and have been using it for probably a year now. Ziplist provides a button which you can load to your favorites, much like a Pinterest button. Whenever you find a recipe from a site which does not offer the Ziplist button at the bottom of their site, simply click on your ZipIt! button under your favorites and it will load the recipe to your recipe box or grocery list, whichever you specify. It’s so cool!
Yes! Websites sign up with ZipList and then you can save the recipes. You can search for recipes within ZipList, too and get results from thousands of food websites!

Thanks for sharing this app. I am always on the lookout for an online recipe organizer (I use pinterest right now, which is hardly perfect). My question: do sites need to be signed up with Ziplist for me to save their recipes with this app? For ex, I have a lot of recipes from realsimple.com, and I didn’t see a Ziplist button on their site.
