Just having someone, or something, smile your way can help improve your mood, right? Your kids will love opening their lunchboxes to see their meal smiling back at them. I love these Rice Cracker Face Sandwiches because they’re first of all super cute and second of all allergy friendly! Rice Crackers are gluten free and depending on your toppings these can be nut free too!

You can spread anything on a rice cake and get strategic with the toppings to make a face. Have your kids help you and see their faces light up! We spread these with with sunflower seed butter, refried beans, peanut butter and hummus and then chose different eye and mouth shaped fruits and veggies to make the smile! There’s no wrong way. Get creative and most of all have fun!

A few ideas to include in a lunchbox with these is Paper Bag Popcorn with Nutritional Yeast, some melon balls, hummus with crackers or veggies, maybe some Air Fryer Churro Pasta Chips for a bit of a sweet treat but there are tons of other ideas for lunch on the site. Mix different textures and colors to keep lunch exciting!

You’d be surprised how just adding a shape or fun design to a lunch time classic like a sandwich will take it to the next level for your kids! After all, the goal is to get kids to come home with an empty lunchbox and these recipes are sure to do the trick.

Rice Cracker “Face” Sandwiches

Ingredients  

  • 1 rice cracker
  • 2-3 tablespoons spread of choice (nut butter, seed butter, hummus, refried beans, etc)
  • circle and smile shaped fruit and vegetables of choice

Instructions 

  • Spread favorite nut butter, hummus or other spread on rice cracker.
  • Add circle shaped fruit or vegetable for the eyes and a smile shaped fruit or vegetable for the mouth. 
  • Enjoy!
