3 Game Changing Ways to Make Snacking Healthier

During the week, twice a day I stare in my pantry looking into the snack abyss thinking about how to recharge my kids with snacks they can’t wait to eat, but also travel well. On the week days, I run into this issue as the kids race around from activity to activity. The weekends are similar with busy schedules, not enough time for proper meals and having friends over all day long needing healthy snacks around to make sure no one gets hangry!

As I’m constantly snack mom in charge, I’ve had to come up with strategies to make snacking easy, quick and healthy. Here’s 3 game changing ways to make snacking easier:

1. If you have adults who will be at the event make sure to have plenty of healthy snacks that are adult and kid friendly. Place nuts, crackers, pretzels, vegetables and especially plenty of Wonderful Halos Mandarins around for healthy, quick snacking. Avoid having to do dishes by handing everyone napkins for quick clean up.

2. Pick 5 foods you know your kids and their friends love ahead of time and make sure to stock up on them. Take a dry erase board and keep a running list of favorite snacks to take the guess work out of what to buy and serve.

3. Instead of buying tons of snacks in individual packing (that you end up wasting), create snack boxes filled with several snacks or individual bags with a variety of snacks: Halos, trail mix, pretzels, paper bag popcorn and vegetables.

I myself have nut allergies, and lots of children do, so I like to use roasted pumpkin seeds!
