When you have a baby you hope and expect that they will come out perfect in every way. You pray that everything you eat and do while your baby is in utero affects them in a positive way. I basically thought about this for 10 long months with each of my three pregnancies. I call these my crazy pants. I strap them on tight and don’t take them off until I’m holding my sweet babies in my arms.
With Kenya and Chloe I never had a day where I worried about them having food allergies as they never showed any signs of sensitives. I offered every food under the sun so they could enjoy a wide variety and they never had any reactions. With Gemma, though, it has been a different story. From the day she was born her skin was irritated and dry from eczema which was inevitably part of her diagnosis.
We went to several allergists, I cut everything from dairy to gluten to sugar out of my diet for 5 long months. We finally discovered one of the causes being an egg allergy, but her eczema still hasn’t totally disappeared. There’s nothing more heart breaking than watching your child itch non stop whenever her clothes are off. Aside from changing my diet so my breastmilk is free of the foods we know are triggers, taking long warm baths and lubing her up with tons of moisturizing creams, there was little we could do to alleviate her pain.
We’ve always been conscious about the products we use in our home, but with anything that touches Gemma’s skin we have to be militant. We’ve always been big fan of the entire line of Seventh Generation products, but now with Gemma in diapers, using wipes on her skin several times a day and touching every surface around our home we’re even more aware. Watch this quick video to get even more ideas on how you can protect your children from pollutants, toxins and irritants and ideas of alleviating some of the possible causes of baby eczema in your home.

Some of the common nasties that can affect your baby’s skin are used in laundry detergents which makes the laundry one of the best places to start detoxing your home.

My daughter’s tends to flair up around Winter when it gets dry or when her immune system is fighting something off. It seems so miserable. Thanks for a change to win!
Wow! Glad her skin looks like it has cleared. My son had eczema that looked exactly like her’s at 5 months. Through allergy testing we found he was allergic to eggs, cow’s milk, and cashews. All of which I was eating regularly and he was getting through my milk. He was miserable too. Once I eliminated those foods his skin completely cleared and he was so much happier. At 13 months he is still allergic to eggs and milk but hoping he grows out of them. Best to you and Gemma!
I would love to win for my grandbaby. Thanks for the chance!
We like using the Seven Generation products!
