Whole Wheat Pizza Bagels

I started making these Whole Wheat Pizza Bagels for Kenya and Chloe when they were just starting to eat solid foods. You can buy them in the frozen food aisle of your grocery, but why bother when you can have the real thing and make them even healthier with homemade Tomato Sauce and use fresh whole wheat bagels.

I’ll give you two words you can say to your kids and I bet they will come running into lunch or dinner without a single protest. “Pizza” and “bagel”! Just as an example I do 30 second quick recipe commercial ideas on Kids Place Live on Sirius radio and while I was driving with the kids today they heard one come on. It’s no surprise at this point that it’s my voice, but they love hearing the different tips and recipe suggestions. Today’s happened to be the idea of using tortillas, english muffins and bagels to make mini pizzas, so guess what they asked me to make tonight? You got it, Pizza Bagels!

The bagels become really soft when you bake them covered by a layer of soft and gooey cheese and tangy tomato sauce. For this Rewind Wednesday post I'm bringing back one of our all time favorites!

If you really want to go crazy you can switch up your toppings by varying the cheese to Monterrey Jack or even cheddar or adding different toppings like olives, pepperoni, ham and pineapple or sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms. Get your kids involved by asking them what would be extra special for them to make it their own combination!

I made 12 of these and Kenya enjoyed them so much, he even wanted to eat them at breakfast.

These pizzas are super simple to prepare and incredibly economical. Why bother buying pizza sauce for $3 when you can make it for less then $1. The best part is that you can refrigerate all the ingredients separately and have them on hand for 2 weeks. These are guaranteed winners for little ones!

This recipe makes 12 mini pizzas, is the serving size 1 mini pizza? It does not specify.
    Thank you.

At almost 13 years old, my daughter still only wants to eat pizza derivatives and it bums me out to keep pulling her meals out of the freezer. Will try these on her for sure!
