Parents racing against the morning clock while trying to prepare school lunch have one single goal in mind_ get it made and in that brown bag quick!
Rarely do we take, or even have, the time to think about what will inspire kids to eat the lunch we provide them day after day. Not to mention, when you do put a lot of thought into school lunch, how defeated do you feel when it comes home uneaten? Frustrated would be an understatement.
However, when you stop for a moment to think about your child’s experience at the lunch table, what do you imagine her first thought is when she opens her lunch box? I find that when I aim to stimulate all of my kids senses at lunch — not just their taste buds — what I pack comes home gobbled up.
It’s the entire mealtime experience that can motivate a child to eat the food that’s in front of them. School lunch is not only about how the food tastes, it’s also about how it looks_ the colors, textures, and especially the shapes in which the food is cut all make a big difference. The contents of the lunch box in this video are not only simple to prepare they’re also visually exciting and super tasty.
Watch now and I’ll show you how to get your kids excited from the moment they open their lunchbox with a few of my favorites_ Egg Pesto Melt, peaches and plums, edamame, and Greek yogurt with honey and granola. I pack them all with Odwalla’s Mango Pineapple Island smoothie. Odwalla Smoothies For Kids fit perfectly in a lunch box and totally add to a fun sensory experience at lunchtime. And, as promised, it’s all quick and easy for you!

Thanks in advance for your help and comments
The second I saw your book on amazon I knew I had to have it! Your food philosophy is spot on with my own. I too make big batches of chicken, pesto, veggies and pasta to throw meals together quickly!
Thanks for all the great recipes.
That sandwich sounds yummy and I love the edadame addition as well. I make my own pesto so love getting a new idea for how to use it.
I make the sandwich, let it cool, then pack in the lunchbox. I always pack an ice pack with lunch to keep everything at a safe temperature!
So do you put it in the lunch box with an ice pack? Would think it would need to get chilled to stay fresh until lunchtime…
I pack warm/hot food in my son’s lunch everyday right next to the cooler foods. I’ve never made a big deal about food temperature so he doesn’t think twice about it. Loves the Pesto Melt!!
This is Kenya’s favorite sandwich and I send it to school for lunch with him often!
The sandwich looks great for breakfast when it is warm, but I’m really struggling with the idea of eating it hours later when the eggs are no longer hot. The texture of room temp or cold eggs just doesn’t seem like it would be appealing – do the kids really not mind it in their lunches?
