Let’s face it, life can be stressful. This Anti-Stress Smoothie is filled with ingredients to help naturally reduce stress and anxiety while also being absolutely delicious!
We’re kicking off the new year with a new smoothie! It’s no secret that with the many responsibilities we take on, life can become stressful, especially when starting a new year or simply a new project. My go-to life hack, no matter the issue, is usually “can I make a smoothie that helps this?” Nine times out of ten, the answer is yes. Of course, this Anti-Stress Smoothie isn’t actually magic, but combined with a plan that works for you to help reduce stress levels, it’s definitely an added, delicious bonus.
I began doing some research on foods that naturally can help reduce stress and anxiety when the idea for this smoothie came to me, and I found a perfectly delicious combo. Dark leafy green vegetables (I used chard in this recipe) are one of the most nutrient dense foods. Chard is a great source of Vitamin C, to help boost immunity, and magnesium, which can reduce our stress hormones and inflammation.
Matcha powder is expected to have anti-stress benefits because of its high L-theanine content. Even though matcha has a high caffeine content, the L-theanine helps lessen the effect on your nervous system making you energized, yet focused. Energy without the jitters? Yes please!
I added banana to this smoothie for some sweetness and avocado for some creaminess, but both of these foods have their own nutritional benefits on their own. Avocados help keep us feeling full and are also high in glucose regulating magnesium to help prevent mood swings. And bananas are a great source of potassium and magnesium as well.
While there’s no magic spell that’s going to make stress and anxiety completely poof away, the superfoods in this Anti-Stress Smoothie combined with other personal techniques that work for you can definitely help. Plus, if anything, you at least are going to get a delicious treat!

Anti-Stress Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1/4 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
- 1 small banana, fresh or frozen
- 1/2 avocado, peeled and pitted
- 1 large handful chopped chard
- 2 tablespoons greek yogurt
- 3/4 cup milk of choice
- 1 handful ice
Instructions
- Place ingredients in a blender in order given.Â
- Blend until smooth.

Loved this! Works great on my anxiety & bipolar issues. I used Curly Leaf Spinach instead of chard, and I almond milk. I did add 1 medjool date and 1/4 cup coconut water for extra sweetness. This was exactly what I needed, tastes great, and sooo refreshing too! Thanks for a great smoothie recipe, will be making this a lot this summer!
