Pancake Tacos are a super simple way to make breakfast fun! Who wouldn’t want a pancake and taco combination?

Do I have the only kids who would rather eat with their hands than with a fork, knife or spoon? Especially when they’re ravenous they will come to the kitchen table and dig right in grabbing food and inhaling it as fast as possible. There are some foods that seem like they should be eaten with utensils, but they’re honestly a lot more fun to enjoy using fingers like chicken nuggets, pizza balls and especially many breakfast foods.

I’ve gotten to the point that I won’t even put out silverware in the morning when I’m making waffles, french toast or even pancakes as the kids prefer it when I fill little dishes with maple, honey or fresh raspberry syrup for them to dunk right into saving me the trouble of washing anything other than their plates.

I love it when they get extra creative with their food creating new ways to eat what seems like a straightforward food. Kenya hadn’t been feeling great a few weeks ago and was sticking to the BRAT diet – bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. On this occasion, Kenya sat at the table after a day without eating from being sick. He sat staring blankly ahead with little interest in the leftover whole wheat pancakes I had placed in front of him. The next time I turned around he had filled the pancakes with yogurt and fruit calling them “Pancake Tacos”. He looked just like he was at a Mexican restaurant, tilting his head slightly to the side making sure that not a drop of the creamy filling dripped out of his “taco”.

The best part is that he immediately appeared to feel better as he ate with his hands, quickly filling his belly. I watched the joy and pleasure on his face eating a food the way he wanted to and probably ended up enjoying it even more. No utensils needed!

    About the Author

Catherine is a mama of three. A Kentucky girl living in California. Here’s what I know: all kids can be great eaters and mealtime must be easy. I create simple, healthy recipes the whole family will love.

    1. My kids will eat almost anything that involves eating with their hands. I never thought of making breakfast tacos, it’s a great idea. It would be quick for school breakfasts.

    2. Great idea I haven’t thought of! My daughter also prefers to eat with her hands and I get criticized for allowing her to do so. My focus is on her eating, not having the best table manners. This is perfect for her!

    3. This is a great idea! I’m excited to try it with the yogurt GoGo squeezers. Thanks!

    4. GoGo Squeezes are just about the only things that both of my picky eaters agree on. And I feel good about giving them!

    5. My 2 year old always prefers eating with his hands over using utensils! I love this recipe idea! Definitely trying it out this weekend.

    6. I’ve been struggling with breakfast now that school has started again. This sounds like a great way to get my pokey eater to get some food in her belly before school. Thanks for the idea!

    7. Making these tomorrow morning for my 17-month old. What a fabulous and fun healthy breakfast idea!

    8. My kids love go go squeezes, but I would never have thought to combine them with pancakes to make tacos. We eat breakfast for dinner once a week, and this is the recipe I will try next. Thanks for the great idea!

    9. I going to have to get the weelicious cook book now. Awesome tips and I’m so excited to make pancake tacos! Simple and delicious. Never would have thought of putting the go squeeze in top. Haven’t tried those as a matter of fact but my family does like to try new things. Well, maybe not my 4 year old who just became incredibly picky. But me, my husband and 1 year old are!

    10. This sounds like a winner! Breakfast time can be challenging. This may just lighten my morning load! Thanks!!

    11. The apple sauce is the best! The yogurt is something we have never tried. It looks good!

    12. My kids LOVE GoGo Squeez apple sauces and yogurts. And this mama LOVES fun, quick nutritious and delicious breakfast ideas. We will be doing these “tacos” this week! Thank you, thank you.

    13. Love this idea, and would love to win! My daughter just started 1st grade and I’m looking for more creative ways to include fruit in her meals! Thank you!

    14. I absolutely would never have thought of using these that way! What a great idea!

    15. The pancake tacos are a definite new menu possibility – can’t wait to try them!

    16. I either hadn’t paid attention, or they haven’t arrived in Alaska yet, but I’m excited for the yogurt pouches! I know the kids will love them!

    17. My kids love feeling “grown up” and putting toppings on their food- great idea!

    18. My grandkids love breakfast foods in their lunch box. This looks like a winner.

    19. I don’t know why I can’t think of these things on my own. Thanks for continuing to inspire snack/lunch/dinner/breakfast/a tired mom!

    32. Holy cow! What a great idea. I’ve been looking for some other way to get creative with pancakes for my 3.5 year old who loves eating with his hands!

    33. Love gogo squeez for snack for my kids. What a great idea for the pancake taco. The kids will love it:)

    34. Love the idea! We did crepes this morning from a kids cookbook- I love how just having pictures of kids cooking makes him want to help me in the kitchen! (However messy it gets)

    35. This is a great idea! You could also use crepes and do a full roll around the filling.

    36. I originally read this post because I was looking for breakfast ideas for my toddler who loves the gogo squeez applesauce pouches, but this giveaway just makes it that much better!
