Strawberry season is one of my favorite times of year. The moment they show up at the farmers market I buy as many as I can carry (it’s a bit of an obsession). We eat them fresh, freeze them for smoothies, toss them in salads, and when we have way too many we make fruit leather. My kids have always gone crazy for strawberries and honestly so have I. Here are 17 of my family’s favorite ways to use strawberries all season long.

How to Store and Freeze Strawberries
When strawberries are at their peak, buy more than you think you need. To keep them fresh longer, don’t wash them until you’re ready to eat them. Fruits and vegetables produce condensation as they chill, so I like to line a glass container with a paper towel, place the unwashed berries inside, and top with another paper towel. The paper towels will absorb that excess moisture and prevent them from going bad faster. When you’re ready to eat them, spray with a fruit and vegetable wash, rinse with water, and serve.
To freeze, hull the berries and spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag (I like these reusable silicon bags) or container. Frozen strawberries are perfect for healthy smoothies all year long.
