I love the fall because that means pears and persimmons are in season. They’re some of my favorites and I can’t wait every year for them to be available at the farmers market. The bright orange color from persimmons dresses up any dish to look so beautiful, not to mention they are so delicious. This salad will take any dinner table to the next level.

Persimmons are high in so many vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, so I try to incorporate them into our diet whenever possible. I’ll make Persimmon Fruit LeatherPersimmon Cake or this insanely yummy Persimmon Burrata Salad so many times during the fall. No one in my family is complaining about it!

Pears are also great for you! They’re packed with fiber and other nutrients. We eat them so many ways during the fall, but on this salad is one of our favorites. They add a nice subtle crunch.

If you find yourself with an abundance of pears and you’re not sure what to do with them, try this Pear and Pistachio Crisp. Everyone will love it! Plus, considering it’s a “dessert” it doesn’t have that much sugar in it. I’ve actually served it for breakfast with a scoop of greek yogurt on top before and my kids’ eyes lit up! You could also opt for another favorite salad of ours, this Apple, Pear and Goat Cheese Fall Salad!

This recipe calls for arugula as the base, but you really can customize it and use your favorite greens mix. There’s no wrong way to do it, which is why salads are so much fun to make! It’s all about adding what you know you love.
